Diogo Jota scored a 94th-minute winner against Tottenham Hotspur to help Liverpool pick up all three points but the forward is a doubt for the Fulham game in midweek.

Jota has missed a large chunk of the season due to an injury setback but ever since he’s returned, he’s been in great form. Since the first week of April, he’s played in seven games and has scored five goals along with two assists.

His winner on Sunday was to help him push for a start but the 26-year-old has aggravated an injury and is now in line to miss Fulham’s visit to Anfield.

The Liverpool manager said in his pre-match press conference: “Diogo struggles.

“He got, in the West Ham game, a knock in the back, a bruised rib, could not train before the [Tottenham] game but could play without an injection or whatever, but got another knock immediately when he came on.

“You might have seen the celebrations of Diogo, he was sitting down pretty slowly. He didn’t train since then so that is one that is a doubt… he is a doubt at least but I hope he can recover until tomorrow night.”

Diogo Jota was turning out to be the perfect super sub for Liverpool but this fresh blow means he could miss the next one or two matches.

Thankfully, Liverpool only have the league games to look forward to so Jurgen Klopp won’t be losing any sleep. They are more or less out of the top four race and they are now pushing to finish fifth in the Premier League.

Also, Luis Diaz is back to full fitness and the Colombian international is clearly the first-choice left-winger right now.

Jota had a rating of 8.3 out of 10 in the Spurs game so he will hold onto his place in the starting line up in midweek. However, the injury to Diogo Jota is good news for Darwin Nunez because he will now move up the pecking order and will be in line to come on as a substitute against Fulham.
