According to the latest rumours, Arsenal are interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz as he could be available in a cut-price deal.

Serie A side AC Milan are said to be the front runners in signing the midfielder and they have already opened direct talks with Villa to discuss a potential summer transfer.

As per Goal, the Rossoneri are confident they will be able to land Douglas Luiz for around £25 Million because he has just 12 months remaining on his current deal.

Luiz joined Villa in the summer of 2019 and over the years he has become of the more consistent players for the club, featuring in 111 games across all competitions.

Will Arsenal challenge Milan in the signing of Douglas Luiz?

Arsenal need to sign a new central midfielder this summer and for the longest time, they have set their sights on Youri Tielemans.

However, the Gunners have not been able to make significant progress in this race and now things have gotten even more challenging because Manchester United have joined the race to sign the Leicester man.

Arsenal are already said to be scouting various alternatives and if someone like Douglas Luiz is really available for £25 million then the North London side can and should make a move.

Tielemans is valued at around £30 million which makes the Aston Villa man the ideal backup target and since he has spent most of his professional career in the Premier League, he will not require any settling in.

Milan are also looking at Renato Sanches and they are yet to make a decision over whom to choose meaning Arsenal still have a chance to pounce in and convince Douglas Luiz and also Aston Villa.

The transfer fee won’t be an issue for the Gunners and we suppose the midfielder will be more than willing to remain in the Premier League.
