Crystal Palace are currently the frontrunners in signing Eddie Nketiah but as things stand, their offer is nowhere close to what Arsenal are demanding, that’s according to The Athletic.

The young forward joined Arsenal’s youth system in 2015 and since then he’s moved up through the ranks with a lot of promise. But with so many centre-forwards ahead of him in the pecking order, it’s almost impossible for him to get regular game time this season.

And this is one of the main reasons why Mikel Arteta has decided to cash in on him during the ongoing transfer window.

Crystal Palace will be the ideal place for the 22-year-old to grow and nurture his skills but if the Athletic’s report is correct then Palace are not even close to meeting Arsenal’s asking price.

TransferMarkt currently values Eddie Nketiah at £14.5 million so asking for £20 million might not seem like a very big jump. But having said that the forward has only one year left on his current deal.

There’s no way Palace will be ready to pay £20 million for someone who has entered the final year of his contract which is why some experts think Arsenal are expected to drop their value in the coming days.

Arsenal are desperate for funds so the last thing they will want is to let Nketiah leave as a free agent. And Crystal Palace will be banking on this to get a deal done before deadline day.

Reiss Nelson, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Hector Bellerin and Lacazette have all been put up for sale by Arsenal but the Gunners are finding it really hard to offload them right now.

The price difference between both the club remains quite significant right now so the other viable solution to this problem is that Arsenal let Eddie Nketiah leave for a small upfront fee but with various add-ons and a sell-on clause included in the contract.
