Man United face Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday and forward Edinson Cavani could be in contention to play in this all-important fixture.

The South American has been in and out of the side this season and over the past few weeks, he has been recovering from a tendon issue. But he now seems to have made a full recovery and could play some part in the Chelsea vs Man United clash.

“During this period of the international break, I’ve had the chance to stop and focus on this niggling injury that I’m feeling in the tendon in my leg,” Cavani told the media.

“So I can speed up my recovery and come back quickly and be available for my club and national team.

“So, during this time, I was able to spend a few days in Uruguay, do some fitness and recovery work and stuff and, in turn, I managed to see my family at the same time, which is always important, to see your family and be close to them.”

Will Edinson Cavani play against Chelsea at the Bridge?

It looks like Edinson Cavani has made a full recovery from the niggling tendon problem but the club have made it clear that the forward might still miss Sunday’s clash.

Even if he is cleared fit, there’s no way Michael Carrick is going to put him in the starting lineup straightaway, that too against a team like Chelsea.

The last game he played was the 2-2 draw vs Atalanta at the start of November so if even he is available – at best he’ll find a place on the bench.

With Mason Greenwood still missing due to COVID, having Cavani on the bench will be a major boost for Manchester United but it’s definitely going to be Ronaldo who will be leading the line on Sunday.

Edinson Cavani has played 213 minutes across five Premier League games this season but has found the back of the net only once.
