Man United take on West Brom this weekend in the Premier League and according to pundit Ian Wright, forward Edinson Cavani could play a key role in dismantling Sam Allardyce’s side at the Hawthorns.

“The way they (United) are playing now and we know that they like to break, playing against West Brom will be Big Sam’s dream,” Wright said in his podcast, as reported.

“We saw what he did to Liverpool up there and it’s going to be that kind of situation for Man Utd, he’s going to make that tough.

“If it means he’s going to play five [at the back] and four in front and the one guy who’s going to be in front of them then Man Utd have got to try to break that down, which we know is their achilles heel.

“This is where people like Cavani have to play because the one bit of movement, the one bit of quality from [Bruno] Fernandes and that could be enough to beat West Brom.

“But that game is not a foregone conclusion simply because West Brom will probably relish that kind of defensive challenge than any other at the moment against a Man United side that we know it sometimes just doesn’t happen.”

The 33-year-old joined Man United as a free agent in the summer but his performances over the months have made him an integral part of the first-team squad at Old Trafford.

Right now, it’s safe to say that Edinson Cavani is above Anthony Martial in the pecking order having scored six crucial goals in his 16 Premier League appearances and there’s a big chance the forward starts against the Baggies on Sunday as well.

Also, another reason why Martial is not likely to feature in the starting XI this weekend is that he played the full game against West Ham United in midweek and the manager will not want to overuse the Frenchman.

Man United are back in the Europa League next week when they take on Real Sociedad away from home and in this match, Edinson Cavani could be rested.
