This man looks all set to replace Mesut Ozil at Arsenal: Too early to predict?

Arsenal beat Newcastle United 3-0 in the EPL on Monday and once again, young Emile Smith Rowe was one of the stars of the match.

The youngster has been playing regular football for the first-team over the past couple of weeks and with Mesut Ozil leaving for greener pastures, Smith Rowe could be the next major playmaker for the North London side.

The 20-year-old provided the assist for Arsenal’s first goal vs the Magpies and speaking after the match, pundit Ian Wright went on to shower heavy praises on Emile Smith Rowe.

“He’s somebody they have had high hopes for,” Wright told Premier League Productions, as per The Mirror.

“He’s had a couple of injuries and gone out on loan a couple of times. They know what he’s capable of.

“When you look at him in the academy and the first team, apart from Ozil, they are not many players who play in that hole like he does. On the half-turn, with a lot more energy and pace than anybody else. Maybe even Ozil when he’s in there.

“He’s all over the place. He’s got a lovely touch – since he has come in now with the injuries and his loan. He has realised that this is where I am meant to be. I am ready. He has taken [his chance], at the moment.”

Mesut Ozil is on his way out and it looks like Mikel Arteta has found an apt replacement in the form of Emile Smith Rowe without spending even a single penny in the transfer market.

So far during the 2020-21 season, the academy graduate has played in five EPL matches for the Gunners providing three assists. And with the kind of performances he’s been putting out, we are sure that Arteta will be using him regularly in the starting Xi for the remainder of the season.

But, in the end, we will have to wait and see if the England U20 international is good enough to fill the enormous boots of Mesut Ozil.
