Pundit urges Klopp to use this player in the first XI vs Chelsea: Will the manager oblige?

Liverpool take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Thursday and Fabinho is expected to be back in action for this one.

The Brazilian has missed the last few games with a muscle injury but manager Jurgen Klopp, earlier this week, has claimed that the midfielder is expected to feature vs Chelsea.

Klopp said, as per the club’s official website: “Alisson and Fabinho, I’m pretty sure [will be available].”

And speaking about Fabinho, Graeme Souness has urged the Liverpool boss to bring the player straight back into central defence.

“You’re only as strong as your weakest link in the football team. They looked a bit vulnerable to a couple of long balls and flick-ons tonight,” Souness said on Sky Sports, as quoted.

“They’ll be [up against] a bigger threat on Thursday night when they play Chelsea and you’ve got to play him [Fabinho] at the back.”

With players like Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all out injured, Fabinho has spent most of the 2020-21 season at centre-back.

According to TransferMarkt, the 27-year-old has played 27 games across all competitions this season and out of those 21 have been as a centre-back.

There’s no doubt that Nathaniel Phillips is not the man to face a team like Chelsea so if Fabinho is fully ready then he will come straight back into central defence alongside Ozan Kabak.
