Premier League side Chelsea are looking to bring in midfield reinforcements during the summer transfer window and one of the names which have been doing the rounds over the past few days is that of Franck Kessie.

According to The Express, the Blues are planning to make a move for the AC Milan midfielder in the hopes that he does not sign a new deal.

The report claims: “Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a summer swoop for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie, with Blues boss Thomas Tuchel a big fan of the 24-year-old. Kessie has impressed at the San Siro and is said to be on the radar of several European clubs.

“Back in February, a report from Il Milanista claimed that Tuchel ‘dreams of’ bringing Kessie to Stamford Bridge in the summer, with the midfielder’s current contract due to expire in 2022.

“Now, according Sports Mediaset, both Chelsea and Real Madrid are interested in the player and could offer him a bumper deal.”

Will Chelsea get their hands on Franck Kessie?

AC Milan are interested in offering Franck Kessie a new deal at the club but there’s a big chance that the 24-year-old might not put pen on paper.

With clubs like Chelsea and Real Madrid seemingly interested in him, the midfielder might look for a new challenge, in which case, Milan will have no other option but to sell him.

The Ivorian has been in stellar form this season, scoring nine and assisting three goals in 25 league games for Milan and if he can manage the same level of intensity until the end of the season, then there’s undoubtedly going to be a transfer battle for him.

With Kante ageing, Franck Kessie will be his ideal replacement but we doubt if Chelsea will be able to get their hands on him since Real Madrid are also being linked to him.

The Blues will need to remain in the Champions League next season if they wish to attract the midfielder in the summer or else, the Premier League side will have to outbid the other suitors.
