Frenkie de Jong Barcelona

Manchester United are still interested in signing Frenkie de Jong but it’s highly likely they will miss out on him, once again.

United tried with all their might to sign the midfielder last summer but they failed to do so. Barcelona were ready to cash in on him but De Jong was not interested in playing in the Europa League, his main reason for snubbing Man United.

However, Erik ten Hag still wants the Dutch international on board which is why Man United will try and sign him up at the end of this season.

Frenkie de Jong was recently asked if he will join Manchester United in the summer and the midfielder had a very precise answer.

He replied(h/t Fotmob): “No, I don’t think so. You never know of course. But I’m very happy in Barcelona.”

Frenkie de Jong dropped another top-draw performance against Real Madrid this weekend and performance-wise, he has no reason to switch to Manchester United in the summer but Barcelona might have other plans.

Barca must free up £178 million or else they won’t be able to sign new players in the summer which is why they will have to get rid of some very high-profile players.

According to some reports, Barcelona are planning to sell around six players and no one in their squad is immune from this decision.

Just like the previous season, the Catalans will happily accept a huge transfer fee for Frenkie de Jong but we think the midfielder will resist a sale.

Manchester United have also registered an interest in Jude Bellingham and even though he is valued at €140 million but the 19-year-old will be the perfect alternative to De Jong.

Ten Hag is very particular about the type of players he wants at Old Trafford so Manchester United will try to convince Frenkie de Jong but unlike last year, we don’t think the Premier League giants will keep all their focus on the Barcelona midfielder.
