Gabriel Jesus Arsenal
Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus playing for Brazil

Arsenal head to Elland Road on Sunday and Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Gabriel Jesus is a doubt for this Premier League tie.

The forward has been one of the catalysts in helping Arsenal punch above their weight this season but he seems to have picked up an injury during the win over Liverpool last weekend.

Arteta said in his pre-match press conference: “I don’t know, obviously he has some discomfort after the game against Liverpool.

“That’s why we decided not to bring him in [to Norway], so let’s see how he is tomorrow and Saturday.”

The forward was not part of the matchday squad for Arsenal’s Europa League tie on Thursday night and if he is really absent on Sunday then Arteta will be under some big pressure.

Jesus’ backup is Eddie Nketiah and while the youngster is good, he is nowhere close to the Brazilian’s talent.

Gabriel Jesus has netted five goals and provided three assists in his first nine league games for the Gunners and a player like him will be needed to unlock Leeds’ defence.

Leeds United might not have won their last five games but Jesse Marsch’s side are unbeaten in eight home matches so they will surely look to frustrate Arsenal.

Arsenal might have made a great start to their campaign but Mikel Arteta is working with a very small squad so injuries are going to be a big cause of concern for him all throughout the season.
