Will this 25Y/O Brazilian forward choose a move to Spurs over Arsenal this summer?

Gabriel Jesus Man City

Tottenham Hotspur have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Gabriel Jesus and this has been a major cause of concern for the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta has his undeterred focus on the Manchester City forward and according to Fabrizio Romano, they are currently in advanced talks with the forward.

However, the transfer expert has claimed that Spurs are also monitoring this situation plus there have been rumours that Antonio Conte’s side might try and stage a late coup.

He wrote on Twitter: “Gabriel Jesus deal update. Arsenal are working on it and negotiations are very advanced – Arsenal will now need to be fast on final, key details involving player/agents to get the deal done and avoid twists.

“Tottenham & PSG, still waiting to see the end of this story.”

Will Gabriel Jesus choose a move to Spurs or Arsenal?

Gabriel Jesus and his agent are well aware of Spurs’ interest but according to the Daily Star, the forward is more inclined to join Arsenal.

The main reason why Jesus is not signing a new contract with Manchester City is that he wants to play regularly and he feels he has a better opportunity of achieving that at Arsenal rather than Spurs.

Jesus has been at Manchester City since 2017 but this season he managed to play in just 21 league games. Things are going to get even more difficult because City have now signed Erling Haaland.

At Spurs, he will face a similar situation because Conte has players like Son and Harry Kane so it makes sense that he will choose a move to the red side of North London.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have seen the exit of both Aubameyang and Lacazette so the primary centre-forward’s role is up for the taking.

We can understand why Spurs are keen to sign a player like Gabriel Jesus but until Antonio Conte can assure him regular starts, there’s no way they will move up the pecking order.

UPDATE:

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Arsenal and Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement for the transfer of Gabriel Jesus so now it’s almost impossible for Tottenham to stage a coup.
