England take on Andorra in the World Cup qualifiers on Saturday and Harry Kane and two more players are fighting to be the first-choice No 9.

Both Ollie Watkins and Tammy Abraham have been included in the squad and given that Gareth Southgate is expected to rotate his squad, there’s a big chance that either of them could start.

Watkins has been backed by many to be named in the starting line up but the Aston Villa forward has still backed Harry Kane to start in that role.

“This is only my third camp,” he added, as quoted.

“I’m not thinking about being the main number nine. I think at the end of the day, everyone knows Harry – he is the England captain, he’s going to play every game if he’s fit.

“So it’s about me taking my opportunity when I get the chance and I do the best for the team and show the manager what I can do.

“I’m very grateful to be picked. It’s always nice to be noticed for the hard work you put in and even though I haven’t been scoring recently I feel like I’ve had a few good performances so it’s nice that the manager has seen that and shown faith in me, so I’m delighted to be here.”

Harry Kane has not been his usual self for Spurs this season so Southgate might want to instil a bit of confidence in him by giving him a start.

But the pitch at Estadi Nacional is not that great so the England boss could hold back his star forward, just to prevent him from being injured.

And if that is the case then Tammy Abraham has a much better chance to start upfront rather than Ollie Watkins.

Abraham left Chelsea during the summer to join Mourinho at Roma and this move has worked wonders for the England international. So far this season, he’s netted two and assisted two in seven games in the Serie A.

Watkins, on the other hand, has only scored one in five league matches for Aston Villa.

Based purely on form the ex-Chelsea man should get to start as the main centre-forward against Andorra but that will only happen if Harry Kane is held by Gareth Southgate.
