According to The Mirror, Manchester United have shown an interest in signing Brentford striker Ivan Toney, a player who’s also wanted by West Ham United.

David Moyes is desperate to add a new striker to his squad before the new season begins and Toney is one of the names that has been heavily linked with the Hammers.

Man United are also floating on the same boat as Erik ten Hag needs to bring in a new centre-forward and after missing out on players like Nunez and Haaland, the Red Devils are reportedly looking at Ivan Toney.

Toney was a prolific goal-scorer for Peterborough United and he’s maintained the same form with the Bees as well. Last season, he netted 12 goals and provided five assists in 33 Premier League games for the club.

His current contract with Brentford expires in the summer of 2025 and as per the reports, the club are valuing him at around £50 million.

Will Man United be able to sign Ivan Toney before West Ham?

Moyes is very much in need of a new striker but if Manchester United are seriously considering a move for Ivan Toney then the Hammers won’t be able to compete.

United can very easily outbid West Ham in the race but first of all, we doubt if the London side will be ready to spend around £50 million on a single player.

Erik ten Hag needs an industrious forward who is willing to chase down defenders so Ivan Toney can be the perfect fit for the brand of football that ETH wants to implement at Old Trafford.

Apart from Toney, West Ham have also been linked with moves for Armando Broja and Gianluca Scamacca and both these players will be much cheaper options for the Hammers.

Missing out on Ivan Toney will definitely be a bit of a blow for West Ham United but if they can get someone like Broja or Scamacca on board, we don’t think Moyes will be complaining at all.
