Jack Grealish has not been able to live up to the hype since joining Manchester City and his average form for the Cityzens has now put his England role in jeopardy.

Grealish is one of Gareth Southgate’s darlings but last season, he scored and assisted only six goals in 26 Premier League appearances for the club.

His current form has raised a lot of questions and most experts believe the former Villa man shouldn’t be starting for England in Qatar.

Thankfully, Jack Grealish is well aware of his situation and he’s now made it clear that he won’t mind being an impact sub for the Three Lions in the World Cup.

“I think for us, it’s something we’re obviously aware of, but something that we’re all embracing,” Grealish said(h/t Planet Sport).

“Especially, I’m not going to speak for the manager, but I’m sure he’s got certain players that are 100 per cent to go to the World Cup, and then there’s obviously certain places and numbers that are still up for grabs. We’re just all training as normal.

“We have two matches now that are going to be very tough opposition and this is really like your pre-World Cup camp.

“I’d love to be (starting) but then again I know what an impact I can bring from the bench. I’m not going to sit here and say, ‘that’s what I am – someone who just comes on’.

“I started one game in the Euros and got an assist, which I was over the moon about.

“The manager’s the manager and if him and his staff decide to play me, I’ll give my all and also if I’m on the bench, I’m ready to come on as an impact sub.”

Who will replace Jack Grealish if he can’t improve his form?

Gareth Southgate definitely has his favourites in the England squad but it will be very hard to choose Jack Grealish over the others if he can’t pull up his socks in the next couple of weeks.

Players like Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling have done way better this season and as things stand, they deserve a place in the starting XI much before Jack Grealish.

Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford have also made a brilliant start to their season with Manchester United and if these two can keep performing at the same rate then it will be impossible for Southgate to overlook them for the World Cup.

Grealish will have to showcase some sensational performances for Manchester City from now until the World Cup starts but it’s really hard for him to perform in every game because Pep Guardiola keeps on rotating his players and barring Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne none of his attacking players are guaranteed starters.
