Man City travel to Lisbon for the UCL Round of 16 game against Sporting on Tuesday and Pep Guardiola will be without Jack Grealish for this game.

Grealish picked up a knock during the Brentford game which forced him to miss last weekend’s PL encounter against Norwich City and there were doubts about his availability on Tuesday as well.

“I hope not. We will see,” Guardiola had replied when asked if the injury was serious.

“I don’t know if he will be ready for Tuesday. After Brentford, we trained, and he was uncomfortable. He was not able to play today, but hopefully in the next days [he can].”

In a fresh injury update, the Man City manager has revealed that Jack Grealish has not been able to recover in time so he will miss the first leg along with Cole Palmer and centre-forward Gabriel Jesus.

“He is better, but for tomorrow he is not available alongside Cole Palmer and Gabriel,” Pep Guardiola confirmed to the press on Monday.

Will Jack Grealish be a big miss for the Sporting game?

Grealish’s first season with Man City has been a roller coaster as he’s managed to score only two and assisted another two goals in 17 Premier League games so far.

To make matters worse, the likes of Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden are in peak form with the former scoring a hat-trick against Norwich City on Saturday. Foden also found the back of the net in that match.

The way Man City are playing at the moment, Pep Guardiola has no use of Jack Grealish for Tuesday’s UCL encounter. But on a personal front, this injury could be a big setback for the ex-Villa man.

As per some rumours, Grealish’s injury could rule him out of action for close to a month, something which will really impact his playing time. With the way Sterling and co are playing, Guardiola will not even miss the services of Jack Grealish and if he is indeed out for a month then he’s sure to fall further down the pecking order.
