Leicester City host Manchester United in their final game of the Premier League and according to Brendan Rodgers, striker Jamie Vardy could be key to helping the home side pick up a win.

Vardy has managed to net 23 goals in 34 league matches this season and his manager has heaped praises on his frontman right before Manchester United come to town.

He said in his press conference, as reported: “He’s a big-game player. This is a match that is right up his street. He has been on fire and I’m sure he would love to finish the season on a real high.

“These are the occasions when he really comes to the fore. The Golden Boot is an individual prize but he’s the guy who finishes off our great work for the team.

“We all want him to finish as the highest scorer, which would be a remarkable achievement
considering his age.

“For me, the age doesn’t really come into it. He’s absolutely fit as anything. He’s up there as one of the top strikers in the world. There’s different types of striker and at this present time you have to see Jamie Vardy as one of the leading strikers in world football.”

Jamie Vardy no doubt has what it takes to dismantle the Man United backline but he will need a steady supply from the midfielders and this could be a big issue for the Foxes since Rodgers will be without several of his star players on Sunday.

James Maddison is ruled out but the manager has admitted that Marc Albrighton could return to the starting line-up if he passes the late fitness test.

“In terms of injuries, there’s nothing new,” Rodgers said in his pre-match press conference. “So, we’ll be ready for the game on Sunday.

“He [Albrighton] will have a final fitness test tomorrow, but he should be okay. We’ve had a really good week, we rested for a few days after the Tottenham game, which I think we needed, and then we had a really good week’s training.”
