Liverpool misfit Joe Gomez has been linked with a move to Aston Villa and as per Football Insider, Villa still have their eyes on the centre-back.

Gomez had been linked with a move to Villa Park at the start of this month but according to sources, Klopp is not ready to let the defender move out during the middle of the season. The latest report though claims that Villa are going to test the waters one more time.

Joe Gomez had a breakthrough 2019-20 season where he played 28 Premier League games but since then, injuries have really halted his progress and this season, he’s played only four Premier League games so far. The situation is not expected to get any better in the second half either since Joel Matip has been playing some impressive football alongside Van Dijk.

Will Joe Gomez be allowed to leave this month?

Not only Villa, but Newcastle United have also shown an interest in the centre-back but Liverpool have wasted no time in rejecting their first formal bid.

And now, in a fresh report, Football Insider are claiming that Jurgen Klopp has also made up his mind regarding Gomez and that a Liverpool source has told them that Villa have been informed that the player will not be allowed to leave this month.

Steven Gerrard is a huge admirer of the 24-year-old and he was hoping that his good relationship with Klopp will help Aston Villa in this transfer race.

But it’s clear now that Klopp looks at Joe Gomez as a big asset in the squad and with Liverpool chasing down Manchester City in the Premier League title race, the manager will need all hands on deck.

This seems to be the final closure in the Joe Gomez transfer saga as the defender looks all set to remain at Liverpool until the end of the season.
