Liverpool will aim to return to the top of the Premier League table this midweek as they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield and the likes of Joel Matip and Naby Keita could make a timely comeback to the starting line-up.

Keita missed the Fulham game due to a tight muscle while Joel Matip have to be taken off at half-time in the same match due to a back spasm.

But speaking ahead of this crunch clash, Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Naby Keita could make a comeback to the matchday squad on Wednesday.

“Naby maybe,” Klopp replied during his pre-match press conference as per the club’s official website.

“Naby was yesterday involved in the extended warming up, I would say. There is another session today and we will have to see how he reacts and then we will have to make a decision about that.”

Joel Matip is also making a quick recovery and he is likely to go through a late fitness test to determine his availability against Spurs.

The manager added: “I don’t know yet. Only two days ago we played, he left the pitch with a back spasm.

“The physios worked pretty much 24 hours on him, so we will see. Today we have another session and then we will see.”

If Joel Matip can return to full fitness in time then it will be a massive boost for Klopp since both Van Dijk and Joe Gomez are out injured for a lengthy period of time.

If the centre-back is not available then club captain Jordan Henderson will have to slot into the backline alongside Fabinho who himself will be playing as a make-shift defender.
