In a rather shocking bit of news, Sky Sports are claiming that Arsenal are could try and make a move for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.
The report claims: “Fellow midfielders Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi are also yet to play for Arsenal this campaign, with the duo understood to have potentially played their last games for the club.
“As talks between the clubs continue, Arsenal are looking at alternatives like Chelsea’s Jorginho and Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.
“Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was assistant to Pep Guardiola when Manchester City came close to signing Jorginho from Napoli in 2018.
“However, the Italy international appears to be part of Frank Lampard’s plans at Chelsea, and has captained the side in both of their Premier League games so far this season.”
Will Jorginho be allowed to join Chelsea?
Jorginho will undoubtedly be a great signing for the Gunners but there are two main reasons why they will not be able to get their hands on the Italian.
The first big reason is that Jorginho has established himself pretty well in Lampard’s first XI over the course of the year and we are absolutely certain the Chelsea boss will not allow him to be sold.
The second reason why Jorginho is not likely to land up at the Emirates is that Mikel Arteta does not have the Italian at the top of his priority list.
Arsenal are also looking at other midfielders like Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey and only if moves for both these players fail will Arteta try and go for the Chelsea midfielder.
But with the transfer window shutting down on October 5, Arsenal just do not have enough time to rattle all the three cages.
