Kieran Tierney missed Scotland’s European Championship opener vs the Czech Republic and his absence left a gaping hole in the starting line-up.

The Arsenal man had picked up a niggle in training which forced him to miss the 2-0 defeat on Monday but Steve Clarke has made it clear that the full-back is fully fit and available for selection for the England game.

“Everybody fit and available, including Kieran,” Clarke told reporters on Thursday.

“It’s good news for Kieran, it’s good news for us, it’s good news for the Scottish supporters, so hopefully we can back all that up with a good result.

“He’s trained fully the last two days, so he’s available for the whole game.”

Liam Cooper played as the left-sided central defender for Steve Clarke’s side in their first game but the Leeds Man did not have any major impact in the match.

The return of Kieran Tierney will be a massive boost for the Scotland boss since the left-back is a key player for Scotland and along with Andy Robertson, they are massive assets when going forward.

Robertson will be playing as the left wing-back on Friday and with Tierney also starting, the pair can take turns to bomb forward and join in on the attacking positions.

The Arsenal man took time to settle join after joining the English Premier League but during the 2020-21 season, he was one of the better players in the Gunners squad, featuring in 27 Premier League games for them.

Grant Henley and Jack Hendry will keep their places in central defence from the first game but Kieran Tierney will replace Liam Cooper as the third defender.

The 24-year-old explained how bad he felt on missing out on the EURO 2020 opener but now he has the chance to put all those disappointments to rest and come up with a five-star performance.

“I was gutted,” Tierney said, as per The Guardian. “I was so down. I stayed back and did rehab work. I was just so flat that day. I stayed back here trying to get fit for Friday and it was the longest day. It was a horrible day.”
