La Liga frontrunners return to action after the international break with a home game against mid-table Alaves. With Barcelona breathing down their neck Real will definitely try and avoid any slip ups.

Real will try and avoid any major setbacks:

Real are currently top with sixty-five points and they also have a game in hand. Zidane’s men have not lost a single game at home this season. Winning eleven and drawing 3. So, on pen and paper, the game should be a walk in the park for Zizou’s men. But with the season coming to a close and Barcelona putting pressure on them, a goof up cannot be totally written off. Barcelona will be hoping that Real drop points at home this weekend so that they can catch up.

Real Madrid will want to keep the winning run on:

Zidane’s men are unbeaten in their last five fixtures. And he will definitely look to carry on the fine run of form. Cristiano Ronaldo has been in great touch recently. He provided two assists in Real’s last game against Athletic Club in the La Liga Santander. He also featured for Portugal in mid-week in an emotional homecoming. Ronaldo found the net in the 18th minute but all his efforts went in vain as Sweden eventually won the match 3-2.

Alaves looking for an upset:

Alaves are sitting exactly in the middle of the table with forty points. And they themselves have in a decent form, winning four out of their last six games. Alaves will be putting everything into their performance this weekend. But at the same time, they will not set their hopes too high. If somehow that can snatch a point out of the Bernabeu it will be no less than a victory for them. But it is much easier said than done. Especially when Real have been scoring at a rate of more than 2.5 goals per game.
