Liverpool face Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend and should they lose this encounter then the Gunners will move above them in the table.

Arsenal are just two points behind the Anfield outfit so anything other than a win will not only impact their standings but at the same time, it will also push them further away from the league leaders.

Many pundits have hinted that Liverpool could fall out of the title race should they suffer a defeat at the hands of Arsenal but Jurgen Klopp is pretty clear that this encounter comes too early to make any sort of significant predictions.

The manager told the press: “Title race? It’s a bit early for that. But to stay up there, we all know we need to stay in front of Arsenal, to stay in and around the top of the league, you need results and we didn’t have enough good results in the last few weeks.

“That’s why the situation is like it is. Yes, we lost at West Ham but even if we would have drawn there the situation would not be massively different. Obviously with a win, yes, but with the draw, not. That’s it.

“We know we have to perform, we know we have to fight. That’s pretty much the most important information probably: we have to fight because Arsenal are a really good football team.

“But we are at Anfield and we have to show that and we have to make clear that it’s a massive difference for all teams and for us as well. I’m really looking forward to it, it’s a while ago that we played here. Now we have three home games in a row. How I said, a while ago and I can’t wait to start.”

Will Liverpool fall out of the title race if they lose to Arsenal?

The short and simple answer is no but if they cannot pick up a win then it will surely be difficult for them to claw back a potential seven-point gap(if Chelsea win this weekend as well).

The Gunners are not the only odd one out in the top six right now since West Ham United are currently occupying the third spot which means Liverpool will have to fend off a number of teams in order to get hold of the Premier League title in May.

Chelsea and Manchester City are obviously amongst the favourites but apart from them, several other sides are also trying to remain in the top six up until the last few weekends.

Teams like Man United and Spurs only need a few wins on the trot to get back into the fold which is why Liverpool must unquestionably win this weekend in order to stay ahead of the herd.

Yes, the Anfield outfit are playing some pretty neat football but if they lose on Saturday and the teams below them win their respective encounters then sides like Brighton, United and Wolves will all be within touching distance.

Liverpool surely have the capability to fight one or two sides but with so many teams breathing down their necks, Jurgen Klopp’s side are bound to crumble at some point in the coming months(especially in January when the African Cup of Nations starts).
