Liverpool suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of Leicester City in the Premier League last weekend but thankfully they have gotten back to winning ways by beating RB Leizpig 2-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Going into this game, Liverpool had lost their last three league games and many pundits thought that this dented confidence could result in yet another loss for the Merseyside outfit.

But thankfully, nothing went wrong for Jurgen Klopp’s side as Mo Salah and Sadio Mane ensure that they have a healthy lead for the second leg of the Round of 16..

Sadio Mane netted the second goal in the 58th minute of the match and speaking after the match, the forward explained how this particular performance could be the benchmark for Liverpool.

Mane told Liverpoolfc.com: “I think it wasn’t an easy game. We have had a really tough time but we never doubted [ourselves].

“We knew it wouldn’t be an easy game from the beginning and it’s not a surprise for us, so we are doing our best, we keep fighting like we can and tonight we showed our character. We played good football, even though it wasn’t our best, but at least tonight I think we deserved to win.

“For us it’s extra motivation [the recent tough spell]. Like I said, it’s not easy for us but it doesn’t make us bad and for sure this is sometimes normal.

“We know what to do now and I think we have to play every single game [with] this kind of performance, otherwise it won’t be easy for us. Let’s do our best and try every game to be like our best.”

This win will give a lot of confidence to the Liverpool players as they go into the Merseyside Derby on Saturday.

Liverpool will host Everton at Anfield and Jurgen Klopp’s side will be desperate to avoid their fourth consecutive loss in the Premier League.

The Toffees have had a fine run this season under Ancelotti but they have managed only one game win in their last five league matches. So this form combined with Liverpool’s strong win on Tuesday should help the home side pick up all three points and climb back into the top-four.
