Everton left-back Lucas Digne has expressed his desire to leave the club and it looks like the 28-year-old has no shortage of takers during the January transfer window.

Rafa Benitez has massive crises on his hand and this decision from Digne has just added to the pile of issues that the Toffees manager has to solve as soon as possible.

Lucas Digne has played in 13 Premier League games this season but he’s clearly not happy with his time at the club. And as per Fabrizio Romano, the full-back will leave Goodison really soon and right now he’s in the process of choosing his next destination.

Newcastle United have been linked with Digne but as per Romano, the Magpies are not expected to sign him during the January transfer window.

He wrote on Twitter: “Lucas Digne will decide his next club soon. He’ll leave Everton with Premier League move likely – but he’s not going to Newcastle despite rumours. Not even an option. No way.

“Chelsea are interested since weeks but no official talks opened with Everton yet.”

Lucas Digne to Chelsea or West Ham United?

Chelsea have lost Ben Chilwell for the remainder of the season which is why they have suddenly shown an interest in Lucas Digne. And as per the latest reports even, West Ham United are going to make a move for him.

Moyes is looking to add competition for Aaron Cresswell in that role which is why the Hammers too want to sign Lucas Digne.

Digne is currently valued at £27 million, a price that both Chelsea and West Ham United can afford. But the real question is whether the Everton man will be happy playing as a backup in either of these two clubs.

Tuchel has Marcos Alonso in his side but if Digne was to sign for Chelsea then he will automatically become the first-choice left wing-back for the remainder of the season. But what happens when Ben Chilwell returns during the summer?

Once Chilwell comes back from injury Digne will have to prove his worth all over again and this is something the Everton player might not be too enthusiastic to do.

At West Ham United he will have to fight for his place from day one but he has a much better opportunity at dethroning Aaron Cresswell for the left-back spot.

At Everton, Lucas Digne has been a regular starter so whichever team wants to sign him will have to guarantee him regular playing time for the remainder of the season and beyond. And since West Ham United also have European football to offer David Moyes will surely go head-on against Chelsea in this transfer race.
