Liverpool take on Leicester City on Thursday and all eyes will be on Jurgen Klopp to see if the manager hands Luis Diaz his Premier League debut.

The January signing came off the bench in the 4th Round FA Cup tie against Cardiff but in that game, he suffered a knee knock and immediately there were concerns over his fitness.

Thankfully, the manager has made it clear that the knock had looked serious at first glance but the 25-year-old was ok.

Klopp said, as per The Sun: “Yes it was a scary moment. [But] the goal he set up for Taki [Minamino] was incredible.

“Then the long ball and challenge, he goes down holding his knee afterwards, we were all really shocked. I looked on the screen and saw everything was fine in the air and fine when he came down but then I saw the Cardiff man stand on his knee.

“He is now bruised there and a scar, it’s red and a little bit open. We all said to him ‘welcome to England’.

“Now he has his first assist and his first scar. That’s absolutely OK, I don’t think it will be serious. Maybe tomorrow he feels it more and we have to react to that but it’s nothing serious.”

Will Luis Diaz start against Leicester City?

Luis Diaz put forward a very solid account of himself against Cardiff City and since Sadio Mane will not be available, there’s a chance that the January signing starts on the left wing.

Pundit Michael Owen believes the 25-year-old will likely get the nod on the left flank since Mane is not yet back from international duty.

He told BetVictor: “I think the new signing, Luis Diaz, will start here. He has the sort of profile Klopp likes from his players and I think he’ll slot in perfectly in that left forward position.

“It’ll be difficult for him to replace Mane in that position, but he gives them great depth there, which they haven’t really had.”

We though will beg to differ since Jurgen Klopp is not likely to throw the new arrival into such an intense Premier League game, especially when both Diogo Jota and Firmino are fully fit and available.

Jota is likely to start on the left flank with Firmino operating down the middle. Harvey Elliott is also back from his injury spell so either he or Mo Salah will operate down the right wing.
