Man United welcome Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday and the home side go into this match as the proper underdogs.

Liverpool are in a rich vein of form, not losing even a single game so far in the Premier League whereas Ole’s side have already dropped points in out of their eight matches.

There aren’t too many people who are putting their money on Man United picking up three points on Sunday but ex-Reds defender Jamie Carragher is certainly thinking on a different tangent.

“I could see Man United winning this game,” the pundit has told Sky Sports. “I think certainly on the back of what happened on Wednesday night, the atmosphere will be fantastic, especially at the start of the game.

“Man United at home against Liverpool notoriously, going back 10 or 15 years, they’ve had Liverpool’s number in the fixture. Liverpool have found it really difficult to win at Old Trafford and going back a long time, even the great Liverpool teams, it’s always been a venue Liverpool have struggled at.

“Even in Jurgen Klopp’s time, I think he’s only won there once so it will always be a tough game for Liverpool no matter what the circumstances are or the quality of Man United.

“But there’s no doubt that going into the game, Liverpool are a better team. They’ve proven that over the last few years and at the start of this season and if Liverpool play well, that could be enough to win. But even if they do win this game, it will be very tight. Man United have got great players, they’re at home with a great atmosphere against a club who notoriously don’t do well in this venue.”

Will Man United be able to beat Liverpool?

Sure, Manchester United go into this match at the back of a superb comeback win against Atalanta but the sour reality is that that Atalanta side had five first-team regulars missing.

United have failed to win in their previous three league matches and to make matters worse, they have won just one of their previous 10 league games against Liverpool. The last time these two sides met was back in May and the Anfield outfit won that match 4-2.

Ole is also without Raphael Varane so defensive cohesiveness is a massive worry for him and on top of that, the latest rumours are suggesting that Bruno Fernandes might also be an injury absentee.

But even with a full-strength side, we don’t see Man United matching up with Liverpool on Sunday and the only way they can pick up a win is if Liverpool push themselves down the drain.

We really do not see the Old Trafford outfit outplaying Jurgen Klopp’s side on Sunday so even if they can manage a draw, it will feel nothing short of a victory to Solskjaer and his boys.
