Man United finally dropped points away from home in the Premier League as Leicester City held them to a 2-2 draw on Boxing Day.

Despite taking the lead twice, Brendan Rodgers’ side found a way back into the match meaning both the sides have lost ground in the title chase.

The first goal from Leicester was a superb long-range strike from Harvey Barnes but their second goal was turned into the back of the net via a deflection from Axel Tuanzebe, who was playing at right-back.

And speaking after the match, pundit Owen Hargreaves has suggested that Man United should be looking to bring in a top-class defender during the summer.

“In terms of goals conceded, they’ve conceded too many and Ole will want to fix that,” he told Premier League Productions, as reported by MEN.

“All the teams that he was a part of had world-class defences. I think he’s trying to find that partnership.

“He’s got Harry Maguire there. Lindelof is okay. Bailly doesn’t inspire you with confidence. It’s an area they need to address – it’s not going to be this season but in the summer they’ll look to do some business there.”

Will Man United sign a defender in the summer?

There no doubt Victor Lindelof is not going to be the long-term partner for Harry Maguire in central defence and there’s every chance that someone like Dayot Upamecano comes into the side during the summer transfer window.

Maguire himself has not been at the top of his game this season but with such a massive price tag, the England international isn’t going anywhere.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has managed to arrange his midfield and attacking departments pretty well over the past two seasons but if Man United are going to challenge the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title then the club will have to spend money in trying to reshape their defence for the upcoming season.
