Mason Mount Chelsea England

Mason Mount has risen through the ranks very rapidly at Chelsea but as per The Sun, the Blues could lose the midfielder to a top club like Liverpool or Manchester City.

The midfielder has been instrumental for Chelsea this season, scoring 10 and assisting nine goals in 29 Premier League games but the club are struggling to offer him a new deal.

Their ownership problem means the London side cannot offer Mount a new contract and there are growing apprehensions that the top two league sides will come calling for him very soon.

Will Liverpool or Man City seriously try and sign Mason Mount?

Mason Mount is one of the best players for not only Chelsea but also for England so Klopp, as well as Guardiola, will happily bring him on board.

Naby Keita has been hit-and-miss for Liverpool since his joining and someone like Mount will be a much better upgrade in Liverpool’s midfield. Also, a trio of Thiago, Fabinho and Mason Mount will be one of the best combinations, not only in England but in the whole of Europe.

Man City will also pounce at the chance of signing the 23-year-old because Gundogan is 31 years old and Bernardo Silva could look to leave any time. Silva has hinted several times at an exit and there’s a very significant chance that he will once again play the same tune in the coming months.

Chelsea will never want Mason Mount to join a direct rival but their situation is such that Man City and Liverpool will most certainly test the waters.

Will Chelsea be able to hold onto Mason Mount?

As per the report, Mount’s current salary at Chelsea is just £70,000-per-week meaning he is one of the lowest-paid players in the squad. The only way for them to solve this problem is to offer him a new and improved deal but their ownership issue stops them from doing so.

Rudiger has already decided to leave in the summer and since Mason Mount has only two years left on his current deal, the midfielder could walk on the same path very soon.

It’s highly unlikely that the England international will join a club like Liverpool or Man City in the summer but if Chelsea’s ownership mess is not sorted soon then the big two will definitely come calling. Mason Mount will be a regular starter in both these teams so only a substantial pay rise should be enough to lure him out of Stamford Bridge.
