Chelsea take on Leicester City in the Premier League and midfielder Mason Mount has been deemed fit for this encounter.

Mount has endured a tough two-week period after picking up an infection due to dental surgery. He missed the international break with England meaning he was a doubt for Saturday’s game as well.

But Thomas Tuchel has revealed that the 22-year-old is fully fit and will be available for selection.

The manager said in his pre-match press conference: ‘Mason is back in training, looking hungry and fresh and in a good spirit, but we need to evaluate. He did training sessions this week and looks good, but we need to see if he can start or play 90 minutes.’

Will Mason Mount start against Leicester City?

Mount’s last start came vs Norwich City in the last week of October and then he played only five minutes vs Burnley before the international break kicked in.

He failed to play even a single minute for the Three Lions during the break and it was starting to be a cause of concern, especially after Tuchel had revealed that Mason Mount had lost weight after the infection.

But his return will be a big sigh of relief for the Blues and since Lukaku and Timo Werner are both missing, we think the England international will be handed a start.

Lukaku and Werner have failed to recover from their respective injuries meaning Kai Havertz will lead the line, in which case Mason Mount will be needed in the attacking midfielder’s role.

Pulisic might have returned to full fitness and Tuchel also has Ziyech at his disposal but none of them will have the same sort of impact as Mount.

In the last game Mason Mount had started, he netted three goals and also provided an assist so if he is even close to 100%, the 22-year-old will be on the pitch from the very first minute.
