Mauricio Pochettino Chelsea manager

Once Daniel Levy sacks Antonio Conte, he would love to bring Mauricio Pochettino back to Tottenham Hotspur but according to The Times, the Argentine is one of the favourites to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.

Ancelotti’s contract expires in 2024 but there are fears that the 63-year-old could head for the exit doors at the end of this season. And if that happens then Mauricio Pochettino will be the next in line.

The current Real Madrid manager has had a trophy-laden time at the Bernabeu so anyone who comes in will have big boots to fill but Florentino Perez believes someone like Poch will be able to pull it off.

We don’t know how Real Madrid fans will react to his news but it’s going to be a major headache for Spurs because Levy is planning to sack Antonio Conte.

After Conte’s rant, it’s almost certain that the club is going to sack him and the experts believe it’s going to happen sometime during the ongoing international break.

The initial plan is for Ryan Mason to be named the interim boss while Daniel Levy hunts for a permanent solution but if Real Madrid want Mauricio Pochettino then Spurs can strike him off their list.

Yes, Poch has a deep love for Tottenham but not many managers can resist the temptation of managing the Los Blancos.

If Mauricio Pochettino goes to Madrid then will who Daniel Levy bring in at Spurs?

Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou has been discussed amongst the Spurs think tank but we don’t think Levy is going to make any formal moves in this direction.

After Mason, Mauricio Pochettino is the bookmakers’ favourite to take charge of the Lilywhites but the club are also considering others like Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Thomas Tuchel and Zinedine Zidane.

Mauricio Pochettino knows the ins and outs at the club so he will take the least time to settle down but if he’s heading to Real Madrid in the summer then Daniel Levy will undoubtedly go for a serial winner.

Will Pochettino choose Madrid or Tottenham?

The 51-year-old went to PSG with a lot of hopes but his stay in Paris was massively unsuccessful.

He’s currently without a club and if he wants to get back amongst the big boys then Real Madrid should be his one and only destination. However, Madrid’s decision to go after Pochettino will depend on what happens with Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti has made it clear that he will leave only if the club don’t want him anymore and there’s a buzz that Perez will not wait for his contract to end. If and when Madrid enter this race, Spurs will automatically take the back seat more so if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.
