Arsenal have submitted a £60 million bid to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The youngster has been the subject of some major transfer interest during the current window and earlier this month, Chelsea had a failed attempt to sign the 21-year-old.

Brighton had rejected a £55 million offer from Chelsea because they did not want to sell Moises Caicedo during the middle of the season.

Now, in a sudden move, Arsenal have launched a formal offer as they feel the Seagulls could crack and eventually sell the midfielder.

Romano wrote on Twitter: “EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal have submitted £60m bid to sign Moises Caicedo as new midfielder.

“Chelsea had £55m verbal proposal rejected this January as Brighton hope to keep the player — but Arsenal are now pushing.

“Negotiations enter into key stages for Caicedo’s future.”

Moises Caicedo has a contract until the summer of 2025 which is why Brighton are in no hurry to cash in on him. Also, there have been reports that the Seagulls have valued him at around £100 million.

Chelsea backed off because Brighton did not want to sell in January but if the club’s ready to cash in on the 21-year-old then the Blues will definitely reignite their interest.

Todd Boehly’s team won’t have a problem in pricing out the Gunners from this deal but we don’t think Moises Caicedo will be too keen to join Chelsea.

Firstly, Chelsea are not in the best of forms this season while Arsenal are currently the league topper. There’s a big chance that the Blues are going to miss out on Champions League football next season whereas the Gunners are the current favourites to win the EPL this time around.

Also, Graham Potter’s side have a host of midfielders amongst their ranks right now so Moises Caicedo will be better off joining a team like Arsenal where he will get a lot more game time.
