Arsenal register an interest in this 27 Y/O midfielder: Can the Gunners get their hands on him?

Nabil Fekir Lyon

Premier League side Arsenal are interested in signing Real Betis midfielder Nabil Fekir, a player who was once on his way to join Liverpool.

In 2018, he was expected to join Liverpool from Lyon but in the end, the move did not happen and then he went on to join Real Betis in 2019.

But after just two years with the club, there are whispers he could be on the move once again with clubs like Arsenal keen to bring him on board for the 2021/22 season.

He did not have the best of seasons with Betis which is why Arsenal are hopeful they will be able to get their hands on him as Mikel Arteta is looking to bring in a new attacking midfielder. Last season, Nabil Fekir scored just five and assisted six goals in 33 La Liga games.

Will Arsenal be able to sign Nabil Fekir?

As per reports in the AS, even though clubs like Arsenal have shown an interest in Nabil Fekir but Betis are not too keen to part ways with him this summer unless their demands are met.

The report claims: “The idea is clear at the Verdiblanco club: keep the player in the squad and make him one of their references for the next season.

“There are teams pending the attacker, such as Arsenal, but the offers tested are far from the amounts that Betis intends to enter for the goodbye of one of its best players.”

Martin Odegaard is set to return to Real Madrid so someone like Nabil Fekir will be the perfect alternative to the Norwegian. And we feel if Arsenal can make a good enough offer then Betis should be ready to send the French international out of the club.

The 27-year-old is valued at £22.50 million as per TransferMarkt and has two more years left on his current deal and we believe an offer of £35-40 million should be fine.

But, the biggest problem for Arsenal will be the fact that they already have someone like Emile Smith Rowe who has played brilliantly this past season. And some experts believe the club should focus on developing the youngster instead of spending money on someone like Nabil Fekir.

Also, Arsenal have missed out on European football next season and there’s no guarantee they will be able to get back into the top-four next season.
