Arsenal have had a torrid time with Nicolas Pepe and according to Foot Mercato, the Gunners have offered him to several clubs, including PSG.

The Ivorian arrived at the Emirates Stadium amidst much fan-fare but the winger has been a major disappointment. Arsenal paid a hell lot of money for him in 2019 but to date, he’s managed to play in only 112 games across all competitions.

Despite the ability to play on either wing, Nicolas Pepe just cannot seem to get a start and this past season, he played only 696 minutes of Premier League football. Mikel Arteta has no use for him which is why the manager wants to free up his wage bills by selling the 26-year-old.

Should Arsenal hold him as a backup?

He is primarily a right-winger but Bukayo Saka has made that position his own so there’s no way Nicolas Pepe will get even close to that area of the pitch.

The club had paid £72m for him back in 2019 and we don’t think the club will like the idea of having such an expensive benchwarmer.

Mikel Arteta will be more than happy to get around £25-35 million from his sale and then use that money to rebuild during the summer. Also, his current deal expires in 2024 and once Pepe enters the final year of his contract, the Gunner will possibly have to sell him for pennies.

Eddie Nketiah has decided to stay at Arsenal and the manager also has youngsters like Martinelli and Smith Rowe so it makes no sense to keep Nicolas Pepe on their books.

Will Nicolas Pepe be able to secure a move to PSG?

PSG are the only club mentioned in this report and the idea is that their incoming sporting director Luis Campos will want to be reunited with the winger.

Campos was the one who had brought Pepe to Lille and the pair share a good relationship so the sporting director will know how to bring the best out of him.

Also, PSG are a club that wouldn’t mind keeping an expensive player like Nicolas Pepe in their squad for two or three seasons.
