Ousmane Dembele to the Premier League

Premier League side Man United might have missed out on the signing of Jadon Sancho which is why they are planning to make a move for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele, as per ESPN.

The report claims: “Manchester United will continue to pursue a deal for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho but have sounded out Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele as a possible alternative, sources have told ESPN.

“Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc cast doubt over the 20-year-old’s long-anticipated move to Old Trafford when he said the club “plan on having Sancho in our team this season,” adding that the decision on his future was “final.”

“Sancho is United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s No. 1 choice to fill a right-wing slot that has been a problem position for years but other options have been discussed including Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman and Juventus’ Douglas Costa.

“Sources have told ESPN that United have held informal talks over a move for Dembele, who has two years left on his contract. The 23-year-old has not played a competitive match since November and underwent surgery on his hamstring in February.”

Will Ousmane Dembele be a good replacement for Sancho?

Borussia Dortmund want a colossal figure for the sale of Jadon Sancho and it’s clear that Man United are not interested in paying so much for a single player this summer.

And maybe this is one of the main reasons why the Man United boss wants to shift his focus to Dembele, a player who has been a major flop since joining Camp Nou.

His time in Spain has been riddled with numerous injuries and during the 2019-20 season, he has played in only five La Liga matches for the Catalans.

Ousmane Dembele still has two years left on his current deal but if offered the correct price, Barcelona will have no issues in letting him leave this summer.

The winger is currently valued at just £50 million as per TransferMarkt which is less than half of what Borussia Dortmund are demanding for the sale of Jadon Sancho.
