Spurs could try and make a move for Ousmane Dembele now that Adama Traore looks all set to join FC Barcelona, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Tottenham had been chasing the 26-year-old for some time now and just a few days ago, the Lilywhites were the favourites to land Traore for the rest of the season.

But as per the latest reports, Barcelona have made a late entry into the scene and the Spanish side are confident that they will be able to land this deal ahead of Tottenham.

Romano wrote on Twitter: “Barcelona are in talks with Wolves for Adama Traoré. Details still to be sorted out, like final ‘formula’ and potential buy option included – negotiations on.”

Do Spurs still stand a chance of signing Adama Traore?

Barcelona’s entry has messed things up hugely for Tottenham since Wolves will be much happier at sending a player like Traore to Spain instead of letting him join a direct rival.

Also, the 26-year-old started his career at the Barcelona academy so it will definitely be special for him to go back.

Third and perhaps most importantly, Antonio Conte was planning to use Traore as a right wing-back and as per some reports, the Spaniard is not too keen to play in that role.

Will Spurs make a move for Ousmane Dembele?

With Barcelona likely to sign Traore, the Camp Nou side have told Ousmane Dembele to find a new club, despite him wanting to stay and see out the rest of his contract.

But now that Spurs have missed out on the Wolves man, Antonio Conte might try and sign Dembele from Barcelona.

Ousmane Dembele is refusing to sign a new deal which is why the club have no problems in letting him move out and since he only has six months left on his current deal, Conte will be able to sign him at a very cut-price deal.

Spurs do not have a world-class right winger in their squad right now so someone like Ousmane Dembele could very well shine at the club. But, it remains to be seen if the Italian manager is ready to put his bets on someone who has suffered numerous injuries in the past five years. Since joining in 2017, the 24-year-old has played only 130 games for Barcelona, scoring 31 goals.

UPDATE: Barcelona have successfully secured a loan deal for Adama Traore and as per the updates, the deal is going to be announced on Friday. This means if Antonio Conte does want to sign a world-class right-winger this month then Spurs have to make a move for Dembele in the coming days.

Romano wrote on Twitter: “Adama Traoré to Barcelona, done deal and here-we-go. Loan with buy option [not mandatory] for €30m plus bonuses. Barça will cover 100% of the salary until June.”
