Premier League

The Premier League is trying their level best to get things back on track for a restart but it looks like a number of things are being compromised in this attempt to finish the 2019-20 season.

From the very beginning, the authorities have made it clear that the safety and health of everyone involved is the biggest priority but it looks like the Premier League clubs might be forcing their players to play their remaining matches despite a reasonable concern over the wellbeing of them as well as their family members.

There have been acquisitions of the PL clubs blackmailing their players to play after the restart and according to Arsenal legend Ray Parlour, the players should not be given the right refuse to play if they feel concerned over this whole situation.

“You can’t put pressure on players like that,” the former Arsenal midfielder told talkSPORT.

“If they’re not 100 per cent, you don’t know what their lifestyles are like, they might have a pregnant wife at home, they might have older relatives living with them and they can’t put them in jeopardy.

‘We’re talking about lives here, this isn’t just a football match. You can go and play football, yes, but it can be an absolute nightmare for families.

“30,000 people have lost their lives – that’s more important than football.”

Will some Premier League players withdraw from the restart?

Pundit Gary Neville had recently hinted that the Premier League clubs might be bullying their players in the name of negotiations which has certainly caused a lot of tension between all the involved parties.

“You can call them negotiations between the clubs or you can call them blackmail, whichever way you want to put it,” Neville said.

“There is no doubt we’ve got a divided Premier League at this moment in time.

“They are somehow trying to get to an agreed position but it really is getting dirty behind the scenes – that we’ll relegate you if you don’t play. But what about health?”

But all said and done, we do not think the players will have much of a choice in case their respective teams decide to go ahead with a restart and ask their players to be involved.

The whole decision rests on the management and the coaching staff like for instance, Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already hinted, he will not force any of his players into playing for the remainder of the season.

The Norwegian told Sky Sports: “You wouldn’t hold anything against them. If a player is not mentally ready to play, I don’t think we could force anyone. They’ve not raised too many concerns, but of course, we trust the experts, the health officers.”
