Marcus Rashford and Garnacho were both omitted from Manchester United’s matchday squad for the Manchester Derby and this bold decision from Ruben Amorim has caught the media attention – for obvious reasons.

Amorim is still trying various combinations as he tries to lock down his best starting lineup which is why everyone was shocked when the manager dropped two of the best players in the United squad. Before the derby, the manager told the press that the omissions were primarily due to rotations and after the 2-1 win, Ruben Amorim, once again made it clear that Marcus Rashford had not been snubbed due to disciplinary actions.

“It’s important to say why: it was not a disciplinary thing,” Amorim said in his postmatch news conference. “Next week, next game, new life, they are fighting for their places.

“For me it’s important, the performance in training, the performance in games, the way you dress, the way you eat, the way you engage with teammates, the way you push your teammates.

“Everything is important in our context in the beginning of something when we want to change a lot of things, when people in our club are losing their jobs we have to set the standards really high and for that they have to fight for a place in the team.”

Will the duo be back in action for the Spurs vs Man United tie?

Fingers have been pointed at Garnacho for leaking Man United’s lineup on social media via his brother and if these rumours are true then the Argentine might be on the sidelines for some more time.

However, Marcus Rashford has clearly failed to impress the new boss in these first couple of matches. But because of the way Ruben Amorim has been rotating his squad, the England international will definitely get a few more chances.

Initially, Amorim wanted to use Rashford in the centre-forward’s role but that tactic has clearly not worked out. At the moment, there’s a lot of competition for the wide attacking positions. Bruno, Mount, Amad, Antony and Joshua Zirkzee can all play in the forward roles. To add to this list, if Garnacho can solve his issues with the manager then Marcus Rashford will have a really hard time climbing up the pecking order.

The 27-year-old has scored only 4 goals in 15 Premier League appearances this season and we seriously doubt if Manchester United is going to choose him in the starting XI on Thursday night. Honestly, Garnacho’s selection in the matchday is a big question mark but even if Marcus Rashford travels to North London, he will start on the bench.

Amad Diallo did superbly as the right-sided attacker and the Ivorian international will hold onto that position with Bruno Fernandes playing out on the left-hand side.

Will Marcus Rashford be sold by Man United?

Marcus Rashford is one of the highest earners at the club, earning £350,000 per week and as per The Guardian, the INEOS owners are ready to sell the 27-year-old during the January transfer window.

The new-look United management are ready to cut their losses and if a good enough bid doesn’t come in during the middle of the season, the Red Devils will wait until the summer and then put the forward up for sale.

Rashford has gotten numerous chances to prove himself but he’s still looking completely clueless. And with clubs like PSG and Barcelona looking for attacking options, this will be the ideal time for Manchester United to cash in on him.
