Arsenal are reportedly looking to make a move for Wolves forward Raul Jimenez in case Aubameyang or Lacazette was to leave in the summer, according to a report in Le10 Sport.
The report claims: “In view of the possible departures of Lacazette and Aubameyang, Arsenal chases Raul Jimenez (Wolverhampton).
“Arsenal are preparing for all eventualities this summer. The departures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are a possibility. As revealed by le10sport.com, Lacazette is notably tracked by Juventus.
“And the former Lyonnais is tempted by the Turin challenge. For Aubameyang, discussions continue, but with only one year of the contract in his lease, the Gabonese is considering all options.
“In this perspective, the Gunners are studying all the options and different profiles. Memphis Depay ( OL ), Alan Saint-Maximin ( Newcastle) or Moussa Dembele ( OL) are mentioned in particular. But according to our information, Raul Jimenez ( Wolverhampton ) is also on the list.”
Can Arsenal sign Raul Jimenez?
Raul Jimenez has scored 17 goals and provided six assists in 38 Premier League matches this season for Wolves so clearly he’s someone who is capable of replacing either of the two Arsenal forwards.
But in order for Arsenal to even stand a chance of signing him, they will have to secure Europa League football first.
As things stand, Wolves will be playing in the UEL if Chelsea win the FA Cup. But if Arsenal were to pick up the silverware then Wolves will fall out of Europe next season. And in such a scenario, the Gunners will be able to lure in Raul Jimenez.
But various rumours have suggested that Nuno Espirito Santo will not have to sell his star players since the management will provide a substantial transfer budget in the summer. So if Arsenal want to sign the 29-year-old they will have to really sweat it out.
