According to The Athletic, Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez has been tipped to leave the Etihad Stadium during the ongoing transfer window but the 24-year-old wants to join Real Madrid ahead of Chelsea.

Chelsea are said to be keen to add Alvarez to their ranks this summer as they continue their hunt for a premier centre-forward and as per the experts, they are ready to launch a major bid for the Argentine international. However, Julian Alvarez refers joining Real Madrid instead of a move to London whenever he leaves Manchester City.

Is Julian Alvarez on the transfer wishlist of Real Madrid?

At the moment, Julian Alvarez is the backup striker to Erling Haaland at Manchester City but despite that, he has scored 36 goals in 103 appearances for the club. Apart from the centre-forward role, he can also play as the second striker and as a No. 10.

This season, Carlo Ancelotti would have loved to have a centre-forward like Alvarez in his squad but now that Kylian Mbappe has joined them, the Los Blancos do not need the MCFC forward.

Mbappe is going to be the main centre-forward next season and Carlo also has Rodrygo as the backup striker so it makes no sense for Madrid to spend money on a player whose current market value is €90 million.

Will the Argentine international join Chelsea?

Julian Alvarez is tempted to play for Real Madrid because they are the biggest club in the world right now but if he wants to get out of the shadows of Erling Haaland then a move to Chelsea is the most preferable.

The Blues are actively scouting a new centre-forward and apart from Alvarez, they have also been linked with players like Benjamin Sesko, Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen.

However, it seems like the new manager wants someone who is familiar with the struggles of the Premier League and since Julian Alvarez has been with Manchester City for two years, he will take a lot less time to settle down at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are ready to break the bank for their new centre-forward but it will be interesting to see how much Man City actually quote for the 24-year-old because he still has four more years remaining on his contract. His market value is €90 million and it won’t be a surprise if MCFC ask more than €100 million for the striker.

If the two clubs can sort out their financial negotiations then there’s a big chance that Julian Alvarez will join Chelsea in the coming months because there’s no point in waiting for Real Madrid.
