Serge Gnabry playing for Arsenal

German giants Bayern Munich are on the verge of losing Robert Lewandowski and chances are they might also have to sell Serge Gnabry as well.

Like Lewandowski, Gnabry is also out of contract in 2023 and he’s hinted at a possible exit, in order to find a new adventure. He’s been with the Germans since 2018 and has played over 170 games for them across all competitions.

Arsenal have been linked with the winger with some reports asserting that Serge Gnabry did not have the greatest of time with the Gunners which is why he wants to go back and set the record straight.

Many Arsenal fans are obviously ecstatic with this news but according to Gunners legend Ray Parlour, the club should steer clear of signing Serge Gnabry.

“He’s a good player. A very, very good player. But there’s other positions that they really need to concentrate on,” he said on talkSPORT.

“A striker. They’ve got to get another striker. (Alexandre) Lacazette (is going), (Pierre-Emerick) Aubameyang has gone, (Eddie) Nketiah is a player to come off the bench. I wouldn’t say he starts every week, though he might play in the Europa League.

“Certainly left-back is a bit of a problem, for me. (Kieran) Tierney has had a lot of injuries and they need a bit more cover there. And central midfield. I think they definitely need a ball-player in there. (Thomas) Partey’s had his injury problems as well.

“So I think those are the three positions they’re looking at.”

Should Arteta ditch the idea of signing Gnabry?

We do not agree with Parlour on this one because a player like him will any day be a massive upgrade to the likes of Martinelli, Saka or Odegaard.

He’s scored 14 goals and provided five assists in 34 Bundesliga matches this season and even though he is a right-winger, the 26-year-old can play in every forward position.

If a player of his stature is indeed ready to return to Arsenal then Mikel Arteta shouldn’t think twice before making a move and bringing him on board.

Can Arsenal manage to sign a player like Serge Gnabry?

The idea of the German international returning to the Emirates Stadium seems like a fairy tale and as things are shaping out, this one will never turn into a reality.

Real Madrid are said to be interested in signing the winger and according to BILD, Gnabry wants to join the Los Blancos should he decide to leave Bayern Munich.

It’s very logical that the 26-year-old will want to join the Champions League winner rather than play in the Europa League next season so even if he decides to leave the Bundesliga in the coming months, we don’t see him heading to North London.
