Arsenal want Sergio Aguero Man City
Sergio Aguero Man City

Man City take on Chelsea in the Champions League final on Saturday and according to former Manchester City winger Trevor Sinclair, Sergio Aguero could be in line to start.

The Argentine will be leaving Manchester City at the end of this season on a free transfer and during the 2020-21 campaign, he has completely fallen down the pecking order, playing in only a handful of matches both in the Premier League as well as in Europe.

No one really thinks Pep Guardiola will use Sergio Aguero in the centre-forward’s role vs Chelsea but according to Sinclair, the Man City boss could really throw up a surprise.

“Off the back of that performance [against Everton] and with Jesus’ performances being just OK, he brings all the things to the team as Pep always says, [then Aguero could play]”, Sinclair told talkSPORT.

“If you are going to put your best striker in, I think it’s going to be Aguero and so he could start.

“That could be a little bit of a surprise I think if Thomas Tuchel sees the City team-sheet and Aguero starts.”

Sergio Aguero has been almost non-existent for Man City this season but he did perform really well against Everton last weekend.

There’s obviously a slim chance the 32-year-old could be given a starting role vs Chelsea just to throw Chelsea off the rails a bit but we don’t think Pep Guardiola will be so naive to let Aguero take the pitch when he has Gabriel Jesus at his disposal.

Also, we feel the Man City boss is likely to play with a false nine on the night so neither Sergio Aguero nor Jesus is likely to start in the final, instead, it’s going to be Kevin De Bruyne who will play in that false-nine role.

Sergio Aguero will be available on the bench though and if Man City do manage to wrap things up early then surely the club legend will be brought in for the final few minutes.
