Steven Gerrard wants Filip Helander at Aston Villa

Aston Villa have just sacked Dean Smith and as per several rumours, current Rangers boss Steven Gerrard could become their next manager.

Smith has failed to find consistency with Villa this season and after losing seven out of the first 11 matches, the management finally decided to part ways with the 50-year-old.

Dean Smith brought in some wonderful players during the summer but he failed to bring cohesiveness into his first team(which was also due to the fact that there were several injuries since the start of the campaign).

But now that he has gone, the management are potentially looking to bring in the current Rangers FC boss as the long-term successor.

Will Steven Gerrard take charge of Aston Villa?

Gerrard became the Gers boss in 2018 and since then he’s managed to bring happiness back at Ibrox by winning the league title.

To date, he’s managed 192 games, winning 124 of them and losing only 27 of those.

The Liverpool legend will not be at Rangers for a long time since his dream job is to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. But before that can happen, Gerrard will have to manage another Premier League club and prove that he has what it takes to manage a club of Liverpool’s stature.

Stevie G has managed to crush Celtic’s dominance in the Scottish Premiership but the English top division is a different beast altogether. So a club like Aston Villa will be the perfect practice pad for the 41-year-old.

Aston Villa has more than a decent squad meaning Steven Gerrard will not struggle to sort the mess that the club are in right now.

Smith had spent the Jack Grealish money to bring in some good players who can work wonders under the right guidance. And with a PPM of 2.15, the ex-England international could be that man.

The Rangers fans will hope that the former Liverpool man doesn’t leave them during the middle of the season but remember the time when Leicester City came calling for then Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers?

The prospect of managing a PL side is just too good to resist and so if Steven Gerrard can agree on the terms with Aston Villa then he won’t think twice before making the switch.
