Arsenal take on Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend and it looks like Thomas Partey is going to miss this game as well.

The midfielder the Manchester City game in midweek as he picked up an injury just hours before kick-off and there’s a chance that he is not going to be fit in time to play on Saturday.

The Gunners manager told the press(h/t 90Min): “We have to assess him today again.

“He had some discomfort, a little muscle discomfort. We have to assess him and see how he is.”

Thomas Partey has been a key player for Arsenal this season and his absence will definitely be a big blow for them this weekend. However, Arsenal have signed Jorginho so Mikel Arteta has no need to risk the Ghanaian.

Jorginho is still adjusting to life at Arsenal but someone like him can very easily control the midfield against Aston Villa.

Even if Thomas Partey is available for selection, he will only be fit enough to be on the bench but there’s a very slim chance that he is going to feature in any capacity on Saturday.

Arsenal are not playing in Europe so Arteta has no need to rush Partey into the side and after the Villa game, the Gunners face Leicester City on the 25th of February. If he is rested on Saturday then surely he will make a full recovery before they head to the King Power.

Elneny has had surgery to repair a knee problem so he too is unavailable meaning Jorginho and Granit Xhaka will pair up in the middle of the park.
