Mikel Arteta casts doubt on the selection of this midfielder vs Crystal Palace: Too much to worry about?

Thomas Partey played two games during the international break for Ghana and there are fears that this could stop him from starting for Arsenal on Monday.

The Gunners take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League and manager Mikel Arteta has suggested that he will have to use the midfielder wisely since he’s been prone to injury in recent times.

The manager said in his pre-match press conference: “Well, let’s see[if he will start vs the Eagles]. We haven’t had the players here yet.

“Some of them because they’re still travelling and they’ve not been assessed by the medical staff, but hopefully.

“He finished both games really well. He played well and scored a couple of goals like many other players did in this international break, and hopefully, everybody is in the right condition on Monday to help us win the game.”

Will Thomas Partey start for Arsenal vs Crystal Palace?

Arsenal are already without Granit Xhaka who is out with an injury so there’s no way Mikel Arteta can afford to keep Thomas Partey on the bench on Monday.

The Gunners have options like Albert Sambi Lokonga, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Mo Elneny in their squad but Arteta needs experience in the middle of the pitch.

Thankfully, Arsenal will play on Monday so Thomas Partey will get an extra day of rest which is why he is more than likely to start in central midfield.

Maybe someone like Lokonga or Elneny will start alongside the Ghanian international with Martin Odegaard playing in the attacking midfielder’s role.

Thomas Partey has endured an injury-hit time in the Premier League but slowly he’s hitting peak form for the Emirates outfit and he’s already played in four league matches so far and has a rating of 7.07 out of 10.
