According to a report in Football Insider, Liverpool’s new manager is desperate to hold onto Trent Alexander-Arnold by making him sign a new deal and stopping him from joining Real Madrid.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract with Liverpool will expire in 2025 and this has caught the interest of Real Madrid who are out in the market looking for a new right full-back as a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vázquez.
Both these right-backs are towards the twilight of their playing career and Carlo Ancelotti feels 25-year-old Trent Alexander-Arnold will be the ideal person to fill that gap next year.
TAA started his Liverpool career with a bang but over the years, his defensive weakness has come to the forefront which is why there have been rumours that Arne Slot will look to dispose of him and sign a new right-back. However, the opposite seems to be happening because the new manager is desperate to tie him down to a new deal and he is even viewing him as a future captain material.
Will Trent Alexander-Arnold be lured by the aura of Real Madrid?
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s current market value is €70 million so it’s highly unlikely that Real Madrid will try and sign him this summer. The Los Blancos will want to wait for the full-back’s contract to run out so that they will be able to land him as a free agent.
Liverpool understand this fully well which is why they are preparing to start fresh contract talks with the England international and they are confident that he will put pen to paper without much fuss.
While it’s not confirmed some reports are suggesting that TAA has no intention to leave any time soon and if Liverpool put favourable terms in the new deal the 25-year-old will have no problems remaining at Anfield for the foreseeable future.
Liverpool have no interest in offloading Trent this summer and if Madrid wish to change their mind they will have to offer at least €80-90 million for the England international. However, there’s no way Perez will sanction such a crazy amount for someone who has entered the final year of his deal.
Since his senior debut back in 2016, TAA has clocked up 73 goal contributions in just 226 Premier League matches for Liverpool but it just does not make sense to spend more than €60-65 million on a new right-back when Real Madrid already have two able-bodied players for that position.
