West Brom vs Chelsea
West Brom Hawthorns

Chelsea travel to the Hawthorns to take on West Brom in Matchweek 3 of the Premier League. And all eyes will be on Slaven Bilic’s side to see if they can pick up their first win since promotion.

So far, the Baggies have conceded eight goals in their first two league matches and according to BBC’s Mark Lawrenson, things are not going to get any easier for them this weekend as Chelsea are expected to pick up an easy win.

Mark Lawrenson said: “Chelsea’s defeat by Liverpool last week was a bit of a reality check for them. Frank Lampard’s side looked pretty ordinary at times, and it was a reminder of where they are at – he is still trying to work out what his best team is, with all their new signings.

“We also saw, again, that Chelsea’s goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is not good enough – he makes too many mistakes, which is why they have gone out and signed Edouard Mendy this week.

“Whoever is in goal for them at The Hawthorns, Chelsea will surely bring in Thiago Silva at the back for his first league game – but I don’t see West Brom causing the Blues many problems anyway.

“The Baggies have lost their first two games, and conceded eight goals already.

“Things are not going to be any easier this time, but the only thing I would say in their defence is that in Leicester, Everton and now Chelsea, they have started their season by playing three teams who will probably finish in the top eight.”

Chelsea’s loss to Liverpool might surely have been an eye-opener for Lampard since they managed to thump six goals past Barnsley in the EFL Cup match in midweek.

While we do not expect the Stamford Bridge outfit to pull off a similar performance on Saturday but there’s no denying that Lampard’s men are the odds out favourites to pick up their second league win of the season.

The Blues boss does have a few injuries to deal with going into this weekend’s match but he has enough firepower to ensure that things do not head south at the Hawthorns.

Edouard Mendy is eligible to play this weekend for his new side but we don’t think the manager will throw him into the deep side of the pool without a couple of proper training sessions.
