The Wolves vs Liverpool encounter in the Premier League this midweek should be a cracker with many people thinking, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men could cause an upset at Molineux.

The reverse fixture was surely one of the best matches in the league so far this season with Wolves were actually unlikely not to pick up a point from that match.

But there’s a huge buzz that playing at home, Santo’s side could pull off a similar sort of performance which they produced during their win vs Manchester City a couple of weeks ago.

And Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas, the Anfield outfit will suffer their first defeat of the season on Thursday vs Wolves.

“This is a cracking game and Liverpool will be on such a high,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.

“I genuinely thought Liverpool looked tired and leggy, especially at the end, against Manchester United. Have they enough to come in and cover this one up?

“Jurgen Klopp took Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino off in the latter stages, but it was a case of hanging in there and going a bit more defensively. I have never really seen that from Klopp but some of those players were dead on their feet

“As cool as Virgil van Dijk and the back four have been, there was a vulnerability there. It was a massive game and they got the result.

“That being said, I see Liverpool’s first defeat of the season coming on Thursday, but it will not change the destiny of the Premier League title.

“Wolves relish the games against the top-six sides. Wolves looked assured at Anfield but got nothing from it. Klopp may make some changes and it could disrupt them a little bit.”

But on the flip side, Michael Owen feels that even though Wolves are a force to reckon with but their current form should be enough to see them through during the Wolves vs Liverpool encounter.

“Wolves came from two goals down to win at St Mary’s on Saturday, but they have now conceded the first goal in their last seven league games and I’m not convinced they can give Liverpool a goal start at Molineux on Thursday,” Owen told BetVictor, as quoted by The Sport Review.

“The reverse fixture between the sides at Anfield over Christmas was a cracker, with the visitors arguably unfortunate not to pick up a point.

“But Liverpool are in such irresistible form at present that they cannot be opposed.”
