Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri has been put up for sale by the club but it looks like no club is interested in signing him.

Several European sides like Lazio and Sevilla have been linked with him throughout the summer and now that Liverpool are ready to let him leave, everyone thought his exit was only a matter of time.

But according to the latest reports, that has not been the case.

Inside Futbol cites Sport1: “Serie A giants Lazio are interested in signing him and he has also been linked with a move to Spain where Sevilla and Villarreal believed to be keen.

“Shaqiri is also claimed to be prepared to return to the Bundesliga, where he played for Bayern Munich, but according to German broadcaster Sport1, there are no concrete offers on Liverpool’s table for the winger yet.

“And with just weeks left in the transfer window, it appears there are no active negotiations between Liverpool and another club for Shaqiri’s departure which have led to a bid.”

Will Xherdan Shaqiri play a part in Liverpool’s title chase?

In a recent interview, Xherdan Shaqiri had expressed his admiration for Lazio hinting that he could be on his way to the Serie A. But to date, Lazio are yet to make a concrete move for the 29-year-old.

“Igli Tare has been doing an excellent job at Lazio for years. If it’s true that he has great respect for me, then I’m honored,” Shaqiri told Italian publication Corriere dello Sport.

“I have been following Lazio for a long time, they are a top team. In general, due to my characteristics, I like to play more attacking football and Sarri practices it. It would be intriguing

“Fortunately, football has helped me achieve many of my dreams. I was lucky enough to play with great teams and to win many titles.

“Who knows, maybe I could get something even with the Swiss national team. My contract [with] Liverpool expires in 2022, in 2018 I signed a four-year deal.

“The important thing at this moment in my career is to be able to play regularly, but that hasn’t always been the case in the last three seasons. This is why I told Liverpool that I feel ready for a new challenge. They accepted my wish and will seriously consider the offers that will come. They will not stop me.”

In theory, Jurgen Klopp has no use of Xherdan Shaqiri next season but Liverpool are not expected to invest on forwards this summer so a player like him could act as a really key backup.

Divock Origi is likely to move out meaning it would slim out the attacking department even more. And while players like Harvey Elliott can provide support, it will be a good thing to have someone as experienced as the Swiss international.

But having said that, there’s close to a month left for the summer transfer window to close so teams like Lazio can still sign Xherdan Shaqiri with the utmost ease.
