According to Football Insider, Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans prefers a move to Arsenal rather than Manchester United.

The Gunners have been interested in signing the midfielder from the very first week of the transfer window but in recent weeks, Manchester United have also joined the bandwagon.

He has only one more year left on his current contract and as per reports, Leicester are willing to accept around £30 million for the Belgium international.

Despite being linked for so long, Arsenal have made no significant progress in this transfer race which has led many to believe that Man United have a very good chance of signing the Leicester man. However, it seems like Youri Tielemans has his heart set on joining the Emirates Stadium outfit.

Why is Youri Tielemans eager to join Arsenal and not Man United?

Youri Tielemans has made it clear that he wishes to leave the King Power this summer and he’s chosen Arsenal as his next destination mainly because he will have less competition there.

Manchester United already have central midfielders like Fred and McTominay plus they have just signed Christian Eriksen. Apart from all these players, United are also chasing Frenkie de Jong so it will be very hard for Tielemans to break into their first XI next season.

On the other hand, Arsenal currently have only Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka and they have just signed Zinchenko from Manchester City. They also have Lokonga amongst their ranks but the youngster has been highly disappointing.

It will be a lot easier for Youri Tielemans to find his feet at the Emirates Stadium which is probably why he is not so keen to join Manchester United.

Will Man United be able to overtake the Gunners in this race?

Arsenal have just agreed on a deal to sign Zinchenko and apart from playing as a left-back, the Ukrainian can operate as a central midfielder as well. Now, we will have to wait and see if Mikel Arteta is still interested in signing Youri Tielemans or is he going to put his full faith in Zinchenko next season.

If the Gunners back out from signing the Leicester City man then Tielemans will have no other option but to pack his bags and head to Old Trafford.

Having said that, United’s interest in the midfielder also depends on what happens with Frenkie de Jong. If Erik ten Hag can get his hands on the Barca man then there’s no way he is going to make a move for Youri Tielemans.
