Arsenal have been linked with Youri Tielemans since the very first day of the summer transfer window and as per the latest updates, the Gunners are still eager to sign him up.

However, a report in Football London is now claiming that Edu is in no hurry to sign the Leicester City man and he is even ready to wait until the end of the 2022/23 season when Tielemans becomes a free agent.

The midfielder has his heart set on a move to the Emirates Stadium and even Brendan Rodgers has given up all hopes of holding onto him. He will undoubtedly be a fine signing for Arsenal but it looks like Mikel Arteta is ready to take a gamble on his current bunch for one more season.

Why are Arsenal willing to wait for Youri Tielemans?

It’s being claimed that the manager has been very impressed with Lokonga playing in a more advanced central midfield role and from what he’s seen in pre-season, Arteta is ready to put his faith in the youngster.

Also, Granit Xhaka has been able to steady his performances under Mikel Arteta and he’s currently a lot more reliable than he was a couple of months ago.

Apart from this, Arsenal have also signed 22-year-old Fabio Vieira and he can play as a CAM as well as a proper CM.

With so many midfielders already in the squad, Edu feels spending £30-35 million on Youri Tielemans makes no real sense especially when he can be signed as a free agent next year.

Right now, no major club is being linked with the Belgian international meaning Arsenal have little reason to worry about him joining a direct rival.
